How to Check If Your Phone Supports eSIM

How to Check on iPhone

Go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see "Add eSIM" or "Add Cellular Plan" option, your phone supports eSIM.

iPhone models with eSIM: iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, 11 series, 12 series, 13 series, 14 series, 15 series, 16 series.

How to Check on Android

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIM → Add Carrier/Download SIM. If this option exists, eSIM is supported.

Or dial *#06# — if an EID (32-digit number) appears, eSIM is supported.

When eSIM is Not Supported

  • Carrier-locked phones may have eSIM disabled
  • Phones from 2018 or earlier mostly don't support it
  • Some phones sold in certain regions have eSIM disabled

Alternatives

If your phone doesn't support eSIM, consider: buying a local physical SIM, renting portable WiFi, or using carrier roaming packages.
